The emerald dragon landed on the outskirts of the town. The rider dismounted lithely and looked around.
'Looks like an ordinary town, doesn't it Brynd?' he asked. The dragon lowered his head and regarded his rider with huge green eyes. The man was taller than average, in his prime, his body lean and toned after years of fighting. His hair was almost black, worn long and his eyes the deepest blue. Today his was dressed inconspicuously in jeans, black t shirt and leather jacket. Long leather boots hid two knives.
'It is the least ordinary town you can imagine,' came the sardonic reply. 'Only your mother would choose somewhere like this to settle down!'
The man sighed. 'Yes, I know. She has a knack for getting involved in trouble!'
He hefted a backpack onto his shoulder and began to walk towards the town. 'Guard my sword old friend!' he called.
' As ever!' the dragon huffed.
