Dyona lay on the bed, her hands and feet tucked under her body like any four legged animal, and twisted her head back and forth looking between the three people inside the room. One put their hand on her head and was saying calming words, which worked. She lay her head down and Baa'ed quietly as they talked. Even with the odd surroundings, she was beginning to feel comfortable, less frightened, and more curious. She wasn't sure what was going to happen next, but she felt that these people cared about her, and they probably weren't going to put her in their next dinner menu. And the mattress was comfortable, soft, and somehow soothing with all it's herbal smells. She looked up at the man standing next to her, his hand resting lightly on her back, and baa'ed quietly, calmly. Waiting for whatever was going to happen next, she looked back down at the sheet below her and tried to nibble on it...was it good to eat? It didn't taste bad, but she couldn't seem to bite any of it off to actually eat...Baaa....maybe the blanket...

The breath caught in Lily's throat. Dyona was trying to eat the sheet on the bed. "I'm wondering if we ought to give her something to eat first?" she said to Narym and Leo. "She's acting like she's hungry and food will give her more strength for whatever you decide to do." She touched her friend lightly. "I'll go to the kitchen and get her something," she offered.

Leo smiled at Lily gratefully. "Thank you," he said softly and kissed her on the cheek. "As ever, you keep our feet on the ground!" He stared down at Dyona. "She seems to be calmer now mother," he said to Narym. "Maybe after she's eaten she'll be stronger and then we can decide what's best to do."

Narym nodded. "I think that maybe your idea is best Leo," she said thoughtfully. " We will see if the boys can still fly and try to find the Well." She sighed. "I wish the others were here," she whispered. "I do wish they were here."

"This has been one bad day!" the thought Trent has as he stumbles through the woods blindly and haphazardly having to use the tress closest to him to keep up right...."Just to think that mere fours hours ago i was getting ready to have a dinner date." with that final thought he misses a tree and face plows the dirt, with one final moan and a shudder from his body Trent lies very still on the forest ground

Narym was contacted by Fallow. Who? Where? Right, I'll take a look. She turned to Leo. "Someone is in trouble in the forest," she told him. "I'll just go and check while you wait for Lily to get some food for Dyona. I won't be long, I promise." She hurried out of the castle and met with the dragon. Climbing on his back she asked, Do you know what is wrong with him?

All I am aware of is that he is unconscious on the ground, Fallow replied. I sense that I know him but his thoughts cut off too quickly. I have a strange feeling I have ridden with him on my back!

Narym frowned. Not many men have done that, she commented. Hmm, the most recent was Trent. Oh no! Fallow we have to find him!

Dyona nibbled on the corner of the blanket she was supposed to be covering up with, and then turned her head curiously, as though listening intently. She didn't hear anything, but continued to do so until Narym started speaking, and then Baaa'ed politely, nodding her head. As Narym headed for the door, Dyona turned her attention back to the two people still in the room, one had said something that vaguely brought back a flash of grass and she perked her ears hopefully, trying to catch wind of the word again. The other, she nudged on the stomach, almost commanding the man to scratch behind her ears. Her butt wagged wistfully as she looked around, blanket hanging from the corner of her mouth as she tried to chew her way through it.
These were good people, they hadn't tried to eat her yet, had said something that made her think of the sweetest clover and the greenest juiciest grass, and now she was learning that they could be asked to scratch places that she couldn't reach...if only she could get them to understand her...or her to understand them. Wait...that's right...I speak...I can. I'm an elf. Well, a shapeshifting elf, I think. I can speak. Or I should be able to... Her chewing slowed as she thought about it, trying to focus on that one thought. There was something to it, and the voice that she'd been using to talk to herself...well, it hadn't been sheep. She knew sheep, and that wasn't it. Was it? She looked around the room, calmly naming things off to herself, but when she tried to place words on herself, they all became jumbled...but she thought that she was starting to remember things a bit better...she looked up at the Lily Rose, and saw the name flash across her vision, and blinked as she dropped the blanket from her mouth. Now that WAS interesting she thought as she watched Lily, her head tilted to the side. Slowly, so very very slowly, she turned her head towards Leo, wondering if the same would happen when she looked at him, and almost bashfully afraid that it would. When her eyes finally connected with his, she didn't get the same flash, it was different...it was...more. Instead of words, there were memories, bright, quick, flashing memories, and she almost jumped back in shock. Now where had that come from! So many, so fast, fresh. She Baa'ed in shock, her eyes softening as she did so. She couldn't yet speak, but her memory was already starting to flicker back to her. And one thing she knew, right now...for right this second...she was safe. Everything else could wait. She rolled closer to the edge of the bed, closer to the people she recognized, and laid her head down, her eyes drifting closed, though she'd yet to fall asleep. It was there, just lurking around a corner, restful, safe, good sleep...and she could still feel his hand scratching that one itchy spot, comfortingly. Her Baa was almost a sigh.

Lily walked towards Leo with a tray of food. She had made sandwiches for him and Narym and there was a bowl of salad for Dyona. She thought that most animals eat some form of greenstuff, so salad should suit. There was also a jug of Merlin's home made wine and water for the elf. "Oh, where is Narym?" she asked. " I have some food for her." She watched Dyona as Leo explained where his mother had gone. "Oh I see. Well I hope she finds whoever it is and is able to help them." Dyona had been chewing the corner of the blanket covering her, although fortunately not eating it. Just as she was looking at her friend, Dyona looked straight into her eyes and a sort of shudder went thru her. Lily watched as she looked at Leo and thought that she recognised him. "Leo look, Dyona seems to know us!"

Leo looked down at Dyona. She had moved closer to him and was laying her head on the pillow. He gently stroked her hair. "I hope so Lily," he replied fervently. "I can't bear to see her this way, neither elf nor animal. I was sort of used to her changing at dawn and in a strange way looked forward to seeing what animal she would be! But she always knew me!" Dyona was asleep, relaxed and trusting in their company. That was a good sign. Wasn't it?

Dyona dozed on the bed, for only a few moments, but to her it was much needed rest. She hadn't slept decently in who knows how long, and those few precious moments of dreamless sleep where deep and good. She could smell food, and felt her eyes drowsily opening, while Leo's hands were still stroking her hair. Stretching in a very unsheeplike way, she yawned loudly as she sat up, her bright eyes fixing on first Lily Rose and then on Leo. There was something that was nagging at the back of her mind, but it could wait. Instead, her eyes focused on the food, especially the salad, as she queried, "What am I doing in the infirmary? And if that salad's not taken, I'd be sooo happy to nibble on it." She smiled brightly at Lily Rose as her hands automatically started for the food, unable to help herself, or contain her hunger as her stomach rumbled loudly.
Scooping the bowl from Lily's hands, she had a piece lettuce with a slice of tomato halfway to her mouth before she realized that they were both staring at her in the oddest way. She used her pinky to swipe her hair back from her eyes, and let her gaze switch from one to the other. "What? Has something happened?" She paused and looked around the room, no blood, but something still felt out of place, "Is everyone okay?" Some thought nipped at the back of her mind, but she pushed it away, first food, if possible, then she'd try to remember what was so important...

Leo stared at Dyona open mouthed. Was she herself or someone else? "Dyona? Are you alright? Don't you remember how you got here?" He was afraid to hope that all was well and this was just a blip in the curse that hung over her.

Lily gawped. Dyona was acting as though nothing had happened! "Er, help yourself to the salad," she said, holding out the bowl to her friend. "How are you feeling?" She poured out some of the wine into a mug and gulped it down. For some reason, she felt as though she would need fortifying.

Fallow was circling the forest. Well at least we know you can still fly! she said to him. I assume Brynd can too. I wish I knew what was going on tho, this is all very worrying. I know that the army passed us by for some reason, but I don't think we're out of danger yet. I don't like these weird things happening. She looked below, trying to find whoever was hurt down below, but she couldn't see anyone.
